Just a reminder to keep turning in your Box Tops and do your online holiday shopping through the Box Tops website. It's easy, quick and simple to register. Follow the prompts on the top left of the welcome page and start shopping. The web address is www.btfe.com. You have to begin your shopping at that page to earn money for the school. This is a great way to help us earn money with your everyday purchases in the stores and online. Family and friends can register to support our school too!!
Lin's receipts are still being taken this year. There is a drop box next to the office and the winner will receive a reward if their receipt is chosen.
These are two great ways to earn money for our school without having to spend money you won't already be spending. Please take the time to clip box tops and save receipts. They really do make a difference!

Carnival Update
We would like to thank all of those families, volunteers, faculty and staff who helped make our carnival a huge success. We had a great time and a fabulous turnout. For our first year of auctioning the "Theme Baskets" we were thrilled with the amount of money that was raised and the positive response's we received. We appreciate the parents donating items to help make them great! Congratulations to the 4th grade who sold their basket for the most money and to 1st grade who had the most items donated. Both grades received a popcorn party for their efforts.

H1N1 Information
The school nurse has asked us to pass along this information to parents regarding H1N1 virus
If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, keep them at home for seven days or until they do not have a fever for 24 hours without taking a fever reducing medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen etc. Schools will be monitoring students for signs of illness; they will take the temperature of any student who appears or complains of being sick. If the student is found to have a fever of 100 degrees or higher, we are asking parents to pick them up immediately. Working parents need to form a backup plan in the event their child becomes sick.
Thanks for your help,

Fall Carnival
Our annual fall carnival will be held September 23, 2009, from 5:30 until 8:00. Please come and check out our new menu and game booths. We will have a new item this year with the theme baskets your children are helping to provide items for. Each grade has its own theme and suggested list of items to donate. The baskets will be purchased through an auction that will take place during the carnival. Please stop in and look over the baskets. Minimum bid for each basket will be $10. We are really excited about this new idea for the kids and parents to get involved in. Please contact Kristi Holyoak with questions at 463-0527.Basket Themes

T-shirts
We have a limited number of shirts and sizes left from the old shirt design. If you would like to purchase one they are available for $5 for both youth and adult sizes. Please contact a member of the PTA to check on sizes and colors available. They will be for sale at the carnival in the lunch room.
For next year we will have new shirts available with updated colors and style options. We would like to hear feedback on the new shirts and will have some available for preview at the fall carnival. Please leave a comment on the blog or let us know at the carnival if you like the new look.
Please encourage your students to wear their shirts on Friday's for prize drawings and to show their school spirit! We love our Polar Bears!

PTA Membership Drive
Please watch your students backpacks for membership information, fluoride sign ups, yearbooks, and T-Shirt info. These will be due back to the students teacher no later than Sept 30, 2009.
We would like to try and double our membership from what is was last year. Please help us accomplish this goal and support North Elementary! It is only $5 to join and being a volunteer is optional. We love volunteers but understand if you are busy.
If we get a certain number of members our school will receive $1,000. Just think of what we could do with that amount of money.
