1st Annual North Elementary Spelling Bee
The North Elementary PTA is very excited to host our first annual spelling bee. Each class will have their own competition and get the top two winners who will advance to the school spelling bee. First through third graders will compete for two school winners and fourth and fifth graders will compete for two winners who will advance to the district competition. (only 4th and 5th graders will advance to the district competition) Students who are interested may obtain a spelling list from their teachers to practice at home, or download them from the schools website. The school spelling bees will be on March 31, for the first through third grades and on April 1, for the fourth and fifth grades. We are really excited about this new tradition for our school and our district. Please support and encourage your students to participate.
We will be following the "scripps" style competition and using words from their spelling lists for our competition. Once we are registered with scripps we will be able to send our district winner to the state to compete in the Utah Spelling Bee. (that will not be in place for this years district winner) For a copy of rules and regulations please contact your students teacher.

Kite Flight
It is time again for our annual Kite Flight reading contest. We will be partnering with the Lion's Club again this year for this fun event. Your child will receive a reading chart by Jan. 30th, and must read the required number of hours for the duration of the event. At the conclusion of the event there will be the actual Kite Flight on April 30th from 10:00 to 3:00 at Park Discovery. The kids will need to bring their completed reading chart in order to get their free kite. Please help us with your participation in this fun event. Last year without our schools participation and the generous donation from this event we would not have been able to get our new playground. We look forward to another successful event!
